We will be running almost 80 events from April 2013 to March 2014. These include a number of series on:
Historic Conservation, Development Economics, Delivering Good Housing, Urban Design in London, Hard Working Streets, Street Essentials and Planning Essentials.
Workshops Practical sessions looking at a specific tool or topic you come across in your day to day work.
Site visits Opportunities to see and learn about interesting schemes.
Leaders Briefings Focused and succinct sessions for councillors and other built environment ‘leaders’. We run separate briefings on planning, housing design and street design issues.
Network Meetings Best for meeting peers and hearing about new ideas, research, policies and case studies.
Design Surgeries and Reviews Advice sessions where you can bring along schemes and ideas to discuss with our panel of experts. Surgeries are informal with no written output. More formal reviews with a written summary of comments available on request.
Advice is available on draft planning policy documents, pre application planning proposals, street improvement schemes, junction redesigns, neighbourhood plan ideas and so on. We have a large panel of advisors to call on and can bring the right people in to help with your scheme, but please book slots early so we can organise the right panel for you.
To help you find the best events for you we have split our programme into 3 topics:
We also run networking meetings around these strands. For more information have a look at our networking pages.
Cost
UDL is a non profit making organisation. We run subscription and grant systems where organisations pay for yearly membership and receive a number of training places in return. So if you work for a London borough, or TfL you may very well be entitled to free places. Ask us if you are not sure.
If you do need to pay, we charge £175 plus VAT per day event. We are happy to discuss group bookings and bespoke session rates.
