Policy Planner


You are probably responsible for monitoring, evaluating, reviewing and writing policy. You might find that a better understanding of national design policy and the relationship between design and other policy objectives very useful. We suggest that the main design skills that you would find useful are:
  • relating your work to national and regional design policy
  • explaining why good design matters and the input it can have to meeting policy objectives
  • writing design policy
  • commissioning, managing and using design based policy tools like masterplans, frameworks and codes.

While you are looking at these courses we suggest you try to think about how the content relates to your job and in particular how you can use what you have learnt, especially how you can ensure planning policies deliver good design.
