Foundation course
You can register for the foundation course at www.urbanevents.org.uk or by e-mailing training@urbandesignlondon.com.
Your organisation probably has a commitment to achieving design quality, but if you don’t know what good design actually is, how can you make this happen?
What is it?
Our foundation course will explain the principles and importance of good urban design and will introduce you to the tools, policies and practices that will help you achieve better designed places.
There are 5 half day sessions which build upon each other, so please sign up for the whole course. All sessions will include presentations, discussion and hands-on practical exercises.
Who is it for?
It is suitable for people who are not specialist urban designers. The sessions should bring together planners, engineers, housing officers, transport engineers, councilors and others, allowing for a better understanding of different roles and responsibilities.
Who will be delivering the training?
The seminars will be delivered by a consortium of top practicing urban designers and trainers from the Institute of Highways and Transportation, Urban Initiatives, the Urban Design Group and MAE Architects.
‘I liked the value and principles of urban design presentation. It gave me a good overview of exactly what urban design is about. Then the masterplanning exercise was a good opportunity to use and apply this in practice’
How does it work?
We are offering 3 different ways for you to attend our foundation course. You can do all 5 sessions over 3 days in a single week– an intensive course. Or you can attend one session a week for 5 weeks. Or you can spread your learning out even more and come once a month. Choose the course that suits you best.
